Many people throw away there empty cartridges and contribute to landfill, where they take many years to decompose.The plastic used in a typical cartridge is made of engineering grade polymers and takes at least 1000 years to decompose (Recharger Magazine 08/02)
It has been estimated that over 80% of our used cartridges are going directly to landfill. Australians throw away more than 18 million cartridges every year which amounts to over 5,000 tonnes of material. Stacked end to end, cartridges thrown away in one year would cover a distance of over 24,000 miles (enough to circle the earth) (Recharger Magazine 08/02)
Many businesses are still unaware that inkjet and toner cartridges can be reused many times before they need to be taken apart and recycled. A used cartridge is not waste. It just needs to be remanufactured or re-filled so that it can continue being used.
By simply returning your empty inkjet and toner cartridges you are helping reduce landfill and evironmental waste.
When your cartridge runs out of ink next time, stop and think what you are going to do with your empty cartridge.Dont throw it in the bin, recycle your empty cartridge and do your bit for the environment.Every little bit counts and creates a cleaner world to live in.
